Politicising religion

Author: Daily Times

Sir: When the constitution of 1973 was finally made, the right wing element ideologically advised and financially funded by Saudi Arabia refrained from approving it. The Saudi government told Mr Bhutto that if Ahmedis were declared non-Muslims, these members would vote for the constitution. The Saudi government did not want Ahmedis to enter their country for Hajj or Umra. Mr Bhutto had to agree and this demand was included through an amendment in the constitution. Dr Mubashar Hasan is a witness to that and he has disclosed it in an interview with media.
