Hello Internet!
Now a lot of us have gone on google and typed in the question “How to lose weight?” and from there starts the endless search for easy weight loss tips. I, being one of those people, know exactly what it’s like to go on one of these websites, read about various “tips” and still not feeling motivated enough to actually lose weight. Weight loss is actually one of the most talked about topics in the entire world, maybe, even more than Caitlyn Jenner.
So here I am, writing this down to give you all some REAL weight loss tips. And no, I am not some sleek slim girl who just read a couple of websites and now thinks that she is fit for writing this blog. No, I am writing this with experience.
A little throwback story; I was once a chubby girl who loved to eat (and still loves to eat), and I never worried about my weight. If anyone said anything to me about “not looking good enough” or “I won’t be able to find a nice guy if I don’t lose weight” I simply ignored the comments and just ATE. I knew I was fat but I didn’t let it get to me. But one day, I realised that being overweight was actually effecting my own heath. A lot. That was my wake up call. I decided that I need to lose the weight, not for the sake of others, but for myself.
So that was when I weighed myself and realised that I was about 70 kg’s, which was a lot for a 17 year old girl, and in order to finish the health problems, I had to lose 15 kg’s. This was enough to demotivate me but I don’t know what happened, I just ignored this and remained determined. I am happy that I was.
Number 1: Goal
The most important thing in order to lose weight is setting up a realistic goal in a realistic time frame. Don’t go all “I want to lose 10kg’s in 10 days!” NO! DON’T DO THAT! It will just demotivate you. You won’t be able to do it. And for some reason you find a diet to do so, it will require you to starve yourself. Please don’t do that.
I lost my weight in a span of 4 months. And those four months went by very quickly and easily.
Number 2: Motivation
Motivate yourself. Motivation is really important if you want to lose weight effectively. And this motivation needs to last for a long time, not for a week or two. For me, it was my health and my trip to Australia (LOL)
Number 3: The right diet
The right diet is a key feature in this journey. And no, the right diet does not mean only eat raw veggies and fruits. If you are a picky eater like I am, you usually find the diet plans online very…difficult and as a result you give up on the whole idea of losing weight. I DONOT EAT ANY FRUITS, just to put it out there. And I don’t eat raw vegetables or fish or mutton, so yeah, it was difficult to find a diet plan online for me.
By the right diet I mean eating everything in a balanced form. If you want, I would happily share my diet plan with all of you. It’s very flexible. And I did not starve myself.
The best thing to do, if you can afford it, is go to a nutritionist. They are seriously the best people to help you during this journey. They will talk to you, ask you about your likes and dislikes and then they will create and diet plan that will fit you.
In Pakistan, it is considered a sin to ask for help, especially in the area of health and weight loss, but please, if by losing weight your life will become better, for whatever the reason may be, do consult a nutritionist, for he/she will give you REALISTIC diet.
I consulted one. She gave me an excellent diet plan. Furthermore, it has been a year now, and I still haven’t put on the weight and I still eat junk food (just not that much).
Number 4: Exercise
No. I am not talking about that “8 minute ab workout” or 2 hours of extensive workout. No one has the time to do that. Just go for a run or a walk in the evening. It can be for an hour or even 30 minutes at the start and you can increase your time gradually. I walked at a normal pace for about 30-40 minutes on a regular basis.
And that’s about it. That was what I learnt from my experience and thought about sharing it with others. Did I lose 15 kg’s? Yes, yes I did.
