CHANDRAPUR – Indian economist and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Prof Subramanian Swamy said on Sunday that history needs to be rewritten with the right perspective to enable India to emerge as a powerful nation.

“History needs to be rewritten in right perspective so that the young generation gets rid of their low self-esteem imposed through distorted history, if India has to emerge as a powerful nation in the next couple of decades,” he told a gathering at the Priyadarshini Auditorium here in this city of Maharashtra state.

“We were invaded by Mughals who subjected our people to physical harassment, while British used mental and psychological tactics to make us feel inferior. They made us like big cats which obey ring masters despite superior strength,” he said. India could emerge as a strong economy since 70 per cent of its population is under 35 years of age.

– India must revoke Article 370 –

“If the government invested in their education and health, apart from making them mentally strong, India could emerge as a strong nation,” he said. Swamy stressed that Jammu Kashmir was an ‘integral part’ of India and that Article 370 was a blunder made by first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which needs to be revoked, since it was adopted only for a temporary period.
