COAS tells intel agencies to help find perpetrators

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Sunday ordered the intelligence agencies to help find terrorists behind the killing of Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada. “Such dastardly coward attempts cannot dent our national resolve to eliminate the menace,” the DG ISPR quoted the COAS as saying. Gen Raheel condemned the terrorist attack, saying that the martyred was a bold officer whose sacrifice for the greater cause of cleansing Pakistan would not go to waste. According to ISPR, the army chief said that such dastardly coward attempts could not dent our national resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism. Punjab Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada was killed along with dozens of others in a bombing at his political office in Shadi Khan near Attock on Sunday. Adviser to Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, Saeed Elahi, confirmed Khanzada’s death. Khanzada’s body was recovered from under the rubble along with 14 other bodies, according to RPO Rawalpindi. Police said terrorists used a huge bomb that caused the roof to cave in as Khanzada held meetings with supporters in his hometown of Attock. Khanzada was trapped under the rubble along with dozens of others as the entire structure of his office building collapsed.
