Altaf urges Nawaz to pluck up courage to raise Kashmir issue

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday regretted that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has not uttered a single word over the Kashmir issue during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi while the latter time and again raised the Mumbai attack.

Addressing an iftar-cum-dinner gathering hosted by Mohibban-e-Pakistan in Saudi Arabia and other gulf states, Altaf deplored that Nawaz has not an iota of courage to raise his voice against the atrocities of Indian Army in the occupied Kashmir.

The MQM chief said, “Despite the fact that 68 years of our independence have passed but till to-date the Muhajirs are not being considered as “sons of the soil”, and are always being subjected to suspicion in every walk of life.”

He regretted that even a person like Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is not being considered as ‘son of the soil’ just because he is a Muhajir. He said that those who have looted this country with both hands and were involved in the gory episode of 1971 are labelling the sons and daughter of those who created Pakistan as the enemy of the state and their loyalty is being questioned.

Altaf further regretted that instead of accepting the mandate of MQM efforts are underway to eliminate Muhajirs and MQM.

He said, “We have decided that we would give all sacrifices but would never bow down and accept the life of slavery.”

He urged the Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia and Gulf States to abide by the laws of the countries they are living. He lauded those who are sending huge foreign exchange with a view to making the economy of Pakistan stronger.

Separately, Altaf expressed his deep grief over the demise of former Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al Faisal. He expressed his sympathies with the Saudi King Shah Suleman bin Abdul Aziz and the people of the Kingdom.
