Sir: Punjab Home Minister Colonel (R) Shuja Khanzada was killed along with dozens of others in a suicide blast at his political office in Shadi Khan near Attock. According to the Punjab government, the home minister was killed in the suicide blast. After the attack, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah confirmed to the media that the home minister was receiving threats from different groups and he was reluctant to visit his native home town Attock.
On the other side, a Taliban-affiliated militant group, Lashkar-e-Islam, claimed responsibility for the attack on Colonel (R) Shuja Khanzada.
Here a question arises when the government of Punjab was aware about the life threats to the home minister, why it had not taken precautions to save his life? It is the negligence of the government that failed to provide proper security to its minister and other innocent people of the area. An inquiry should be held against those who failed to provide security to the home minister.
