ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed concerns over unprovoked firing by the Indian security forces at the Working Boundary.

According to a statement issued by the PM House here on Friday, the prime minister expressed condolence over the loss of eight innocent lives. He also directed the Foreign Office and defence authorities to discuss the matter with their Indian counterparts.

Talking to reporters, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly condemned Indian provocation on Sialkot’s Working Boundary and said that such actions proved that India wants supremacy in the region. He said that ceasefire violation had manifested the nefarious intentions of India. He also expressed grief and sorrow over the killings of innocent civilians by Indian forces.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif – during his visit to Sialkot’s Combined Military Hospital – said that India was committing a highly unethical and cowardly act by targeting civilians at the Working Boundary. At least eight people – including one woman and a child – were killed and 47 others – 24 women and 11 children – injured when the India’s Border Security Force resorted to indiscriminate shelling along the Working Boundary.
