NA body for early land possession in Bhara Kahu housing scheme

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Friday asked the Ministry of Housing to take appropriate measures and land possession for the Bhara Kahu housing project at the earliest.

The committee said the Housing Ministry should immediately approach the Interior Ministry for possession of 14,000
Kanal land near Bhara Kahu to accommodate serving and retired federal government employees.

The committee meeting, chaired by Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, also discussed the Calling Attention Notice regarding non-issuance of allotment letters to the employees of constitutional bodies in Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme.

Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) director general informed the committee that the FGEHF has completed all the procedures for possession of 7,000 Kanal land, whereas consultant has started design work of the project.

Initially, Bhara Kahu Scheme Phase-VI was launched on August 28, 2009, wherein 32,000 employees have been registered. Second advertisement has also been published to accommodate the employees of constitutional professional bodies’ employees, journalist, media personnel, widows and disabled, he added.

He said, 4,596 employees were registered and the membership drive has been closed on August 22.

The committee directed the FGEHF to speed up efforts to complete the process of developing land without further loss of time.

Earlier, state officer told the committee that 876 allotments of government accommodations have been made in the capital in different categories under rule 12, 15 (1), 15 (2) (b), 4 (3) and 6 (7) of accommodation allocation rule 2002 and amongst the General Waiting List (GWL).

The body directed the state officer to provide complete list of allotments made during the last one year from September 2014 to August 31, also mentioning the date of entry in service of the employees. The meeting was attended by Rajab Ali Baloch, Sahibzada Faizul Hasan, Tahira Aurangzeb, Nighat Parveen, Faqir Sher Muhammad Bilalani. Sajid Nawaz, Molana Ameer Zaman and Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan.
