Standard of education

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I would like to make it clear to everyone that in this age of modern technology, education plays a vital role in the progress of a nation. The standard of education in our country is very poor. The economy of Pakistan will not improve unless the structure of education is improved. As we see, the condition of schools and colleges in the government sector is worst compared to private schools and colleges. The nationalisation of schools played a major role in ruining government schools. This is also the result of successive governments’ apathy to the field of education. Due to costly education in the country, many parents do not send their children to schools. This trend is becoming a reason for increasing child labour in the country. Uneducated youths are becoming more inclined towards crimes and anti-social activities. The government schools are called ‘ghost schools’, because teachers never bother to come to these schools. Private schools are better than government schools as they provide better infrastructure, but they charge heavy fees. The students should be provided with the environment that favours their personality grooming. The government should allocate proper budget for the education sector to improve the condition of government schools.
