All is well

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The news about a change in the top brass of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for its failure to tax collection target is a positive development with regard to accountability in government offices. It has always been a weak point of government institutions that they do not give importance to targets and their achievements. “All is well” and “all is good” is the policy that has been followed by most of government officials. If this policy of accountability prevails in all public sector organisations, there is no reason that Pakistan will not be included among progressive nations. All policy makers and policy executers are expected to achieve targets and goals set for them without self-interest. In this way, change is not too far away.
