Down memory lane

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I was surprised to see a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane the other day landing at the Islamabad airport, sporting the old PIA livery that one used to see in the 1960s. I was even more surprised when I looked closely and found that this was one of the new planes that PIA flies – a Boeing-777. If I recall correctly, in those days, PIA operated Boeing 707s and 720Bs and the Boeing-777 had not even been invented.
To see a new PIA plane painted in old graphics was really interesting. It immediately connected me to memories that went 40 years back. This not only rekindled in me the remembrances of a bygone era but also brought back the glories for which PIA was known the world over in those days. Now that PIA has revived the old design, maybe it can also bring back the service standards for which we were all proud once.
