ICT to be made most modern city of world: Kirmani

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Political Affairs Dr Asif Kirmani has said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) would make the capital the most beautiful and modern city of the world.

He said Pakistan is progressing by leaps and bounds under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and soon the country would rise as a big economic power in the world.

He was addressing a dinner hosted by the newly elected Chairman Syed Zeshan Ali Naqvi of PML-N in union council UC-49, Shah Allah Ditta, on Sunday night. He expressed satisfaction over the party’s performance in local government (LG) elections in the Islamabad capital territory (ICT), adding that there is still a room for improvement. To achieve development of the city, the PML-N winning candidates would have to work with more passion.

He said PM Nawaz had expressed greetings to the newly elected members of local government election in the federal capital.

Talking about LG elections in Karachi, he said Liyari is considered as hub of a political party but now PML-N has won four seats from there in recent LG elections.

The PML-N had earlier won the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and by elections in different constituencies and now a leading winner party in the LG elections, he added.

He further said that PML-N emerged as a major political force at grassroots level by virtue of its overwhelming majority in the LG polls. “I promise to resolve all the issues of workers on priority,” he said.

The people had rejected the politics of allegations and those who were creating hurdles in the way of progress and economic growth through sit-ins had badly exposed by the nation, he added.

State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, State Minister for Human Rights Barrister Zafar Ullah, MNA Malik Ibrar and elected chairman and vice chairman of PML-N from union councils of ICT also attended the reception.

Earlier in his address, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that people had buried the politics of allegations and so-called change.

He said the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz sharif would be accomplished as the era of progress and prosperity had begun in the country.

“I am a local representative, understand the problems of the area and try to resolve them on priority,” he added.

On the occasion, Azam Khan from UC-48 and Gulfraz Khan from UC-45, two independent chairman of ICT announced to participate in PML-N.
