‘Rs 1.5b allocated for roads rehabilitation infrastructure’

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Tuesday informed the Senate that the government always observed the regional and provincial quota for appointments in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

He said that all promotions are being made on seniority cum fitness basis as per government policy for the hospital.

He said that the direct recruitment posts had been advertised on December 10 in national dailies as per prescribed quota reserved for provinces. He also said that Rs 1.5 billion had been allocated for rehabilitation of various roads in different sectors of the capital.

The minister said that first phase of Islamabad Expressway Signal Free Corridor from Zero-Point to Faizabad had been completed while work on the second phase from Faizabad to Airport would be started soon.

He said in the first phase, the existing three lanes on each side of the project are replaced with four flexible lanes along with grade-separated facility.

In the second phase, existing five lanes would be rehabilitated with the addition of grade-separated facility and service roads on either side would be rehabilitated, he added.

Dr Tariq said that rehabilitation of IGP Road would be started soon. He also informed the house that many more projects would be finalised for the federal capital.

He said the government is fully aware to protect the environment of the capital and planted thousand of trees along the roads.

The minister said that due to non-submission of educational degrees in time, salary of 95 CDA officers was blocked for the month of October. After the blockage of salary, 93 out of 95 officers submitted their educational degrees while remaining two officers had failed to submit their documents till date, he added.
