ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid on Tuesday said that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) chairman informed the Electoral Reforms Committee that voting through biometric system is possible.
The NADRA chairman disclosed this during a meeting of the committee, chaired by Zahid Hamid, who heads the sub-committee on election reforms.
The NADRA chief briefed the committee that the biometric voting is possible through offline system of the authority and also recommended a hardware security system in this regard, said Zahid Hamid talking to media.
Zahid Hamid said that state minister for Information Technology and Election Commission would review the hardware security system for biometric voting. He said that the committee would examine about the expenditure and time duration for the preparation of hardware security system. The committee was also considering accumulating all electoral laws for making draft of new law and regulations and it would complete its work soon, he added.
