LAHORE: An impressive yet simple groundbreaking ceremony of DHA’s very own grid stations was held on Thursday in DHA Lahore, Phase-8. DHA Lahore Administrator Brig Zafar Yaseen Babar graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Descon Engineering Business Development Head Bilal Bashir, Descon Engineering Chief Strategy Officer Taimoor Saeed and senior officers of DHA Lahore attended the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a welcome address by the DHA chief engineer. In his speech, DHA Lahore Administrator Brig Zafar Yasin Babar said that housing authority had expanded from 34,000 kanals to 300,000 kanals, which increased the demand for continuous and uninterruptible power supply. “The DHA has proposed 21 grid stations, including a 220KV” station, he said, adding that seven grid stations were already in the approval phase, six were under construction and 2 grid stations were already energised.”
“Today we are going to start construction of two” [more grid stations], 132KV each in Commercial Broadway Phase VIII and DHA Town Phase IX, with the approval of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) and the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) he said. “These projects facilitate DHA residents and provide them with uninterrupted and stable power supply.”
He said that the two grid stations would be built on 32 kanals, and added that the DHA had provided 100 percent financial support for the feasibility and construction of the said projects.
