Gas shortage multiplies woes of consumers

ISLAMABAD: The shortage and low pressure of gas in several areas of the twin cities has multiplied woes of the citizens as winter season is at its peak.

The citizens said that they are facing immense problems at domestic level in preparing their breakfast, lunch and dinner due to low gas pressure.

They said that Bahria Town, Pakistan Town, sectors G9, G10, I8, I9, G7, G6, Sadiqabad, Dhoke Kala Khan, Shamsabad and other areas in federal capital are worst hit by low gas pressure.

A resident of posh area Ejaz Ahmad said that with the first shower of winter, gas supply to the residential units has virtually suspended forcing the people to alternate fuel like LPG and wood.

Noor Fatima who is a resident of G9 sector said that mostly in winter, the consumers have to switch to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as there is no gas for domestic use. However, she said that LPG is an expensive and every one could not afford it.

She further said that the routine life of residents has extremely perturbed due to the shortage of gas.

A housewife Noreen Kishwar said that non-availability of gas has compelled the people to bring breakfast from open hearth (tandoors), bakeries and hotels.

She said, “In our locality, we have been facing low gas pressure making it difficult for us to do routine work in time and sometime we send children to schools without breakfast.”

Residents of G7, G8, I10 and others also expressed serious concern over low gas pressure in their areas as a result of which the people in general and housewives in particular are facing multiple problems.

There are also reports of low gas pressure in areas including Dhari Hassanabad, Dhoke Khabba, Qasimabad, Muslim Town, Khurram Colony, Chungi Number 8, Tench Bhatta, People’s Colony, Dhok Khala Khan, Satellite Town and Dhoke Saydan.

Mian Abrar who is a resident of I8 demanded the authorities concerned to take notice of the situation and take effective measures for smooth supply of gas to their homes.
