LAHORE – The Lahore Zoo welcomed three new members as the lioness “Kajal” gave birth to one female and two male healthy cubs.
According to Lahore Zoo Director Shafqat Ali, all the cubs are healthy and normal and with this addition the total number of lions has risen to 12. The lioness, prior to the latest addition, had given birth to five cubs–three female triplets in 2013 and one male cub in 2014.
She is now the mother of seven cubs and all of them are alive and healthy. She was shifted from Lahore Zoo Safari to Lahore Zoo in 2012. The director said the zoo administration with the help of wildlife experts separated the cage of lioness for 15 days to determine her attitude.
Shafqat further said “both the lioness and newly born cubs are in good health and zoo administration and caretakers of the lioness’ cage are making arrangements to provide maximum comfort to the cubs.”
He informed that after two months the cubs will start eating meat. “We will arrange a ceremony to award a name to the newly born cubs soon”, he expressed with happiness.
