Army chief visits Heavy Industries Taxila

TAXILA – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Thursday visited the Heavy Industries Taxila, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

The army chief was briefed on the products manufactured for defence and commercial purposes besides details of various facilities. The briefing covered tank Al-Khalid-1, manufacturing and rebuild of Armor Personal Carrier (APC), Security Vehicles Dragoon – Protector and Mohafiz. He also witnessed the production and demonstration of Tank Al-Khalid-1.

Speaking on the occasion, General Sharif greatly appreciated the efforts of the HIT in manufacturing international standard defence and safety equipment and support to field formations including Zarb-e-Azb military operation.

He encouraged efforts of indigenisation and commercialisation of HIT products. He appreciated the use of Indigenous Security Vehicle ?Mohafiz? and ?Protector?. He emphasised the need to maintain highest standards of quality while also ensuring saving of national exchequer through self reliance. On this occasion, secretary of defence production was also present.
