CHARSADA – Three terrorists stormed into Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, early on Wednesday morning where two blasts were heard amid heavy firing, a private TV channel reported.
According to channel, officials added that two guards were injured at the gate. Meanwhile, extensive firing continues in the area and heavy contingents of elite force have been deployed. Five people injured during firing reported. Sources said that firing can be heard from inside the university where students, teachers and administration staff are present.
Security forces are present on site and are combating the terrorists in a gunfight – but as yet are not sure how many terrorists are holed up inside the university. According to initial reports, over 3,000 students are present inside the univeristy building, while several girls are inside hostels. Members of staff also remain within the building. A heavy contingent of police is present and is taking part in an operation against the armed terrorists who are said to be hiding in different parts of the university.
