ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced one-day mourning in the wake of the Charsadda attack, local media reported on Wednesday.
The prime minister – who had a telephonic conversation with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif following the attack – said that the operation against terrorists must continue with full-swing.
Unidentified gunmen entered Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkha’s Charsadda town on Wednesday and opened fire on students and faculty members as they gathered inside the university premises for a poetry recital to commemorate the death anniversary of the activist and leader whom the school is named after.
Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said that at least 25 people were killed in the attack. Rescue sources said that at least 60 people were injured.
