Security beefed up in capital after Charsadda attack

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Police beefed up security at different educational institutions and other departments to avoid any untoward incident in the aftermath of a deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

Islamabad Police Senior Superintendent (Operations) Sajid Kiani said that there were no threats received to any educational institution in capital, however, police had made fool-proof security arrangements in wake of the heinous incident of Charsadda.

Three police check posts had been established besides increase in patrolling on routes of various schools, colleges and universities in the federal capital, he said. He said station house officers (SHOs) of every police station had visited the schools and colleges in their respective jurisdictions to check the security arrangements.

The training of guards at educational institutions was also being ensured, the SSP informed, adding that the law enforcement agencies were in contact with all schools, colleges and universities regarding their security arrangements.

Police had launched search operations in surrounding areas of different educational institutions to have check on suspects, he said.
