Drive against anti-social elements: Police launch search operation in the vicinity of twin cities

RAWALPINDI: Police on the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on Tuesday launched a search operation in Dhoke Hafiz and its adjoining areas in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station.

Heavy police contingents along with ladies police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar division conducted a search operation in the area.

According to PRO of Rawalpindi Police, over 100 houses were searched during the operation while 250 persons were checked. He said that the search operations are being conducted to net criminals.

Meanwhile, police in its drive against anti-social elements on Tuesday arrested 12 lawbreakers including two kite sellers from different localities of the district and recovered 2,075 grams of charras, 210 litres of wine, two 30-bore pistols with 12 rounds, LPG refilling equipment and 3,000 kites from their possession.

Kahuta police netted Umar Younas and recovered 1,050 grams of charras. Race Course police booked Muhammad Naeem for having 510 grams of charras while Muhammad Hanif was sent behind the bars on recovery of 515 grams of drugs.

Saddar Wah police arrested Kashif Rasheed for carrying 10 litres of wine while 200 litres of liquor was recovered from his possession.

Two accused namely Imran Khan and Ali Khan were apprehended for having illegal weapons.

Similarly, Rattaamral police conducted a raid at an LPG agency and rounded up Ismail Khan and Arif Ullah Khan who were allegedly involved in illegal refilling of LPG.

Murree police arrested an Afghan national Zabiullah Khan for residing illegally in the area. Waris Khan police taking action against kite sellers conducted a raid in Dhoke Elahi Baksh area and arrested Imran Khan and Nawaz Khan and recovered 3,000 kites. Police have registered separate cases under relevant sections against the arrested accused.

Meanwhile, capital city police have arrested eight outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered snatched cash, wine, hashish as well as weapons from them, a police spokesman said.

According to reports, Sihala police arrested two accused Khuram Iqbal and Waqas and recovered snatched cash as well as two pistols along with ammunition from their possession. Industrial area police arrested Zahid and recovered 1,540 cans of beer from him. Karachi Company police arrested Rafaqat and recovered 10 litres of wine from him. Anti-car lifting cell of capital police apprehended Qudrat-Ullah and recovered 500 grams of hashish from his possession. Sabzi Mandi police arrested Rahim Baz and recovered 400 grams of hashish from him. Khana police arrested Abid for having 210 grams of hashish while Lohibher police nabbed Irfan in possession of 30-bore pistol and one wine bottle. Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.

Similarly, 28 professional alm-seekers were also arrested and action has been initiated against them. SSP Sajid Kiani has appreciated overall performance of police and directed all police officials to ensure effective policing measures in the city to curb activities of anti-social elements.
