Sir: Sindh is a province that has been governed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for as long as I can remember. It is a party with the motto of “Roti, Kapra aur Makaan” (bread, clothing and shelter); one that claims to be a hardcore representative of the lowest stratosphere of the working classes. So it certainly does come as a shock when the ruling elite of the province needs a highly spectacular parking lot, which renders the masses they represent, effectively homeless. It is admirable that the human population is capable of going to extremes that I am sure Satan himself may never want to reach.
Simultaneously, New York is struck by a blizzard for a day and the governor himself goes out on the streets overseeing the application of the plan of action chalked out to provide ease and comfort to the population residing here.
The question we should ask ourselves at this point is: can we blame our circumstances and the infrastructure we have grown up with for every calamity that strikes our country? Or can we, for once, admit that our sufferings come from the much more sinister depths of our thought process as a nation?
