LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panama case if it deems necessary. Talking to the media after the Punjab Assembly’s session on Friday, the law minister said that the JIT was formed on the order of the apex court, and the premier would appear before it to prove his “innocence” in the Panama leaks case. Referring to the upcoming provincial budget to be unveiled on June 6, he said no new tax would be imposed. He said that the budget would be people-friendly which would give relief to the masses. Rana claimed that load shedding had been reduced as compared to the previous years. He, however, admitted that people were facing power crisis in the hot weather. He said 5,000MW would be included to the national grid by the year-end, while 9,000MW would be added to the system by the end of 2018. He said that the government would increase minimum wages in the budget, while some projects of clean drinking water were also under consideration of his government.
