Pakistan wins 15 gold medals at international culinary festival in Turkey

ISTANBUL – Pakistan’s national culinary team won 15 gold medals at the 14th International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival in Turkey.

|The Chefs’ Association of Pakistan (CAP) announced the win on their Facebook page. The Pakistani team bagged 13 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, 4 trophies and 30 certificates at the event.

“This all is first time in the history of Pakistan. Pakistan remained high achievers and came up with the leading role. Pakistani chef players were highly appreciated by the international chefs,” Chefs’ Association of Pakistan (CAP) Secretary General Ahmad Shafiq said. “We at Chefs’ Association of Pakistan & COTHM dedicate this great award to the beautiful people of Pakistan,” he said.

The honourable Consul General to Turkey, Dr Yousaf Junaid, also visited the venue of the International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival ?and met the National Culinary Team of Pakistan and extended his heartiest congratulations on their victory.

The competition, in which 25 countries took part, was held from February 11-14 2016, and was organised by cooperation with Cooks and Chefs Federation of Turkey (COCFED) and World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS).

CAP, which was founded in 2006, is an apolitical and nonprofit organisation. It is a member of World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS), Paris – the global authority on food.
