Jazz Jam: US Consulate Lahore hosts musical night

LAHORE: The US Consulate Lahore organised a ‘Jazz Jam’ on Thursday in, which an American jazz quartet performed along with Pakistani artists at the Ali Auditorium on Thursday.

The Jazz Jam evening was organised in collaboration with Face in, which large number of people from all walks of life, mostly university students were present. The rare performance of the American jazz quartet band brought American tunes into the auditorium and for the music lovers. The band also performed on Pakistani national songs, like “Dil dil Pakistan” and “Teray Bina Dil Na Lagay”.

US Consul General Zachary Harkenrider, while talking exclusively to Daily Times, said that the fusion of the American and Pakistani music in the Jazz Jam was commendable and he really enjoyed the music performances. On the occasion, US Consulate Public Affairs Officer Rachael Chen was also present.

The jazz band Ari Roland, was inspired by jazz music from the 1930s, which is also known as the Golden Age of Jazz. Comprising upon four members, the band members hails from New York City and Texas and performed along with Akmal Qadri, Asad Ali and Kashif Ali Dani.

The jazz band members consist of Ari Roland on double bass, Chris Byars on tenor saxophone, Zaid Nasseer on alto saxophone alongside Keith Balla on drums. The band also paid tribute to renowned jazz legend Louis Armstrong.

Ronald who is the band lead musician also while talking exclusively to Daily Times, said “Performing in Lahore was simply great and the audience response here was amazing and supportive. It’s a beautiful experience being in Lahore.”
