SALU, PEF Karachi sign MoU for scholarships, student loans

KHAIRPUR: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur and Professional Education Foundation (PEF), Karachi on Saturday.

Prof Dr Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Syed Ali Kamran Shah, Manager Student Affairs PEF signed the MoU.

The purpose of this MoU was to provide scholarships and Interest Free Loans to the bright and needy students of SALU, based on Merit Cum Need Based Model.

The validity of this MoU does not have any time restriction, but amendments would be made in the contract based on the status of available funds of PEF.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah lauded the efforts for contribution of PEF, Members of the executive body and scholarship committee for choosing and trusting SALU, Khairpur as its new partner in their philanthropic drive.

Dr. Shah firmly believed that this scholarship has immense significance in terms of educating the masses and to see our economy flourish though better intellectuals. She further emphasized that the number of student intakes should be increased and other disciplines should also be encouraged to apply under the MoU.

Syed Ali Kamran Shah said, PEF appreciates the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and the Scholarship committee of SALU, Khairpur and welcome SALU to be PEF’s 35th partner University to educate the deprived students aspiring for a better quality of life.

Ali acknowledged the reservations of Vice Chancellor and said that a number of student’s application would be increased in due course, provided we have the availability of funds. He further commented that other disciplines would also be entertained through formal approval by PEF and SALU management.

Moreover, the efforts and the dedication of Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Mangi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Shikarpur Campus could not be overlooked; because he was the person who made PEF’s 35th MoU a great success and became a window of opportunity for the deprived young minds of SALU.

Prof Dr Lutfullah Mangi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Shikarpur Campus, Prof Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Main Campus, Prof Dr Asad Raza Abidi, Registrar, Prof Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Chairman, Department of Teacher Education, Prof Sarfaraz Ali Korejo, Executive Director SAFE and others were present on the MoU signing ceremony.
