ECP requests for army deployment in Gujranwala by-election

LAHORE – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested Ministry of Defence for deployment of Pakistan Army in local bodies election of constituency NA 101 Gujranwala to be held on March 22.

According to the Punjab ECP Office spokesperson, the request has been sent to the ministry on demand of the contesting candidates as well as Punjab provincial election commissioner and Gujranwala district returning officer.

In a letter written to ministry, it has been requested to make necessary arrangements for providing adequate security inside and outside of all the polling stations of the constituency.
