ISLAMABAD – Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, was not recovered by the security forces neither any military operation conducted, a private TV channel quoted a report by the Ministry of Interior Affairs as saying.
The channel reported that the report was presented to Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan by the investigation committee. According to the report, Taliban freed Shahbaz without informing anyone. “Itwould be premature to confirm whether ransom money was paid by Taseer family or not,” the channel reported.
The TV channels reported on Tuesday that the law enforcement agencies recovered Shahbaz Taseer from Kuchlak area of Balochistan after five years after he was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Lahore.
The same day, a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the intelligence agencies have recovered Shahbaz Taseer. Shahbaz was kidnapped on Aug 26, 2011 near his company’s head office.
