Jirga held to settle rape case

KHANDKOT: The senior politician and influential feudal lord of Upper Sindh Sardar Taj Mohammad Domki addressing the press conference at his residence in Kandhkot town on Sunday claimed that he had settled the gang rape case of 12 years maid servant by fining the ‘real accused’ of Rs 1.8 million, here on Sunday.

Sardar Domki claimed that girl was not gang-raped as was claimed by her father Urz Mohammad Golo in an FIR but was raped by a single person. He said that the accused had raped the girl in Karachi after assuring her that he would marry her. Sardar told the media persons that had he not intervened in the matter the girl would have not got justice. He said the complaint nominated a father and his three sons adding he claimed that it was next to impossible a minor girl could be raped by three brothers and their father. Sardar Domki claimed that now the complaint Arz Muhammad would file the application in the court to withdraw the case as per the rules set during settlement held few days back adding he said that he was satisfied that both parties agreed on the decision made under his supervision.

Here it may be recalled that seven persons were nominated in the FIR, which include Rahib Sorhiani, his three sons including Sheeraz, Saqbi, Apno and nephews under sections of 337 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code were included in the FIR for rape and injuries. The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr Justice Saqib Nisar had also taken the notice of incident on May 11. The FIR [74/2017] was registered at A-section police station in Kandhkot town, while the crime took place in Malir Cantt area of Karachi.
