SRINAGAR – A meeting of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Executive Council, chaired by APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq was held at the APHC headquarters here in this summer capital of the state.

The meeting was attended by Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. The meeting deliberated on the different facets of the ongoing political situation and resistance movement. During the meeting, it was observed that for the peaceful atmosphere of South Asia and for ending terror from the region, resolving disputes between the nations of the region was a pre-requisite.

Stating that Pakistani and Indian leadership should take their responsibility of creating such an atmosphere which would help resolve all disputes including the core issue of Jammu Kashmir, the Hurriyat leaders called upon them to show political will and vision to take bold decisions. The Hurriyat leadership reiterated that the conglomerate stands for cordial relationship between Pakistan and India but believes that for lasting such ties it was imperative upon both the countries to take steps for resolving all outstanding issues between them including Jammu Kashmir.

Condemning the terrorist attacks in Lahore, the meeting also termed it as a barbaric act which had led to the killing of innocent people and said such occurrences in Pakistan would not only harm the peace in that country but would also have far reaching consequences for the security and stability of the entire South Asia. After the conclusion of the meeting, a prayer meeting led by the APHC chairman was held at the Hurriyat headquarters in which glowing tributes were paid to the late Kashmiri leaders Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Shabir Sidiq, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, the martyrs of Hazratbal and others.

Earlier, senior Hurriyat leader Javed Ahmad Mir led a high-level Hurriyat delegation to the Eidgah where they held special prayers and Fateh Khawani for the martyred leaders and Hazratbal martyrs and paid glowing tributes to them.
