NEW DELHI – After the National Awards were announced on Monday this week, the team of Bajirao Mastani bag seven awards including the award for Best Director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. While the who’s who of the entertainment industry including Bhansali’s former leading ladies Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor were in full attendance, however, Bhansali’s ‘Mastani’ Deepika Padukone was noticeable by her absence in the awards.

A source has reported that “She was really hurt by the National Awards snub. She had won all the popular awards for her performance in Piku and Bajirao Mastani. She expected the National Award too. When it didn’t happen she lost her appetite to celebrate with her Bajirao Mastani team.” The National Award this year went to Kangana Ranaut for Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

The war between both the two actresses has always made it to the headlines. While Kangana Ranaut never shied away from commenting on the ‘Tamasha’ actress, Deepika has refrained from making disparaging comments on the Tanu weds Manu actor. Ranveer Singh who was also said to be disappointed over his omission from the winners list of the National film awards, did sportingly show up for the party.
