PIA earned Rs 60 billion in last decade

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines has earned a revenue of Rs 60.72 billion during the last decade, out of which some Rs 58.226 billion was earned from international flights while remaining Rs 2.51 billion was earned from domestic routes. The sources told Daily Times that PIA got the revenue of Rs 6.262 billion in 2006 from international flights, whereas it earned Rs 180.60 million from domestic flights. In 2007, the national airliner received the revenue of Rs 5.63 billion from international routes and in the same year, it got Rs 220.2 million from inland routes. In 2008, PIA got the revenue of Rs 6.172billion from global flight operations, whereas it got only Rs 240.50 million from its inland flights. In 2009, the revenue collection of Pakistan International Airlines from international flying routes dropped down a little to Rs 5.91 billion, whereas the share in the revenue from the domestic operation was Rs 230.8 million only. During the calendar year of 2010, the national flag carrier obtained the revenue of Rs 6.901 billion from international flights while domestic revenue stood at Rs 220.70 million. In 2011, the revenue collection by the PIA with slight fall remained at Rs 6.686 billion from international flights, whereas it stood at Rs 280.10 million from inland operations. Similarly, in 2012, PIA bagged Rs 6.548 billion as yearly income via international flights, while Rs 260.50 million was taken into national kitty by PIA from the domestic flights during the year. In 2014, PIA income dropped down significantly to Rs 4.451 billon, whereas its remittance from inland transmission was Rs 220.80 million. In 2015, the revenue of PIA remained at the lowest level, as it touched Rs 3.582 billion but on the contrary, the inland revenue of PIA rose to the highest level during last 10 years to Rs 290.50 million.
