LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly (PA) on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against Indian oppression in India-Held Kashmir (IHK) and killing of 12 Kashmiris, including Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Bhat in the occupied territory.
The resolution was moved by the Opposition Leader in PA Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, which was backed by the treasury benches.
“The House not only offers pray for the rest of the souls of Kashmiri martyrs but also condemns the suppressive acts of Indian government to curb freedom struggle of Kashmiris,” the resolution said.
“The resolution is a clear message to India that Pakistani nation is standing with Kashmiris, and will continue its moral and political support to them,” it added.
In the resolution, the opposition leader also urged the federal government to highlight the matter at international level, especially in the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC).
After passage of the resolution, the OL on a point of order said that the Indian government had unleashed brutalities in the valley for the last five months.
Condemning the Indian firing on Kashmiri children, he said that use of pellet gun on innocent people was a barbaric act.
He also criticised the role of the Pakistan’s Kashmir Committee and its Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
He also demanded the government to replace Fazlur Rehman as the Kashmir Committee chairman, and “appoint a courageous person who can dare to highlight Kashmir issue at international forums effectively.
