Lahore Soccer Cup begins today

LAHORE: Punjab Junior Sports Association, in collaboration with the University College Lahore (UCL), K-21 Model Town Sports Club, Fame Football Club and Lahore Junior Sports Association, will hold the Lahore Soccer Cup which is starting here on Friday (today). The winning teams from all three venues will play against each other in the Super 3 round. Enthusiastic young footballers from across Lahore will be part of this event. The event will be held in two phases: first phase at UCL from April 7-9 while second phase will start at K-21 Club and Fame Foot Ball Club from April 14 to 17. Dr Syed Asad Hussain, Director University College Lahore, will inaugurate the Lahore Soccer Cup. The theme of the Lahore Soccer Cup is “Let’s play for the sustainable development goals”. Companies are being approached to sponsor the competition. However, an entry fee of Rs.3,000 per team has also been proposed to cover part of the event’s costs. All athletes will be awarded participation certificates while teams finishing among top three will win trophies and medals. Cash prizes will also be awarded, provided the event is able to find a sponsor.
