ISLAMABAD: There are some 19 out of 51 stalls; kiosks and structures in Lakeview Park in the federal capital are illegal, which are run by the relatives and blue-eyed persons of CDA high officials and office bearers of workers union.

Daily Times has learnt that most of the employees deployed at the park do not come to their job as their attendance is marked on daily basis while they are absent from duty and get full pay and allowance from the CDA as they bribe the Park Supervisor Raja Basharat and Manager Ibrar.

After telling the story of dishonesty at the park to the media personnel, the front man and relative of Raja Basharat beat innocent security guards and gardeners physically as they are their personal servants. According to the documents available with Daily Times, the affectees registered a complaint against the security guard Fareed Abbasi in Secretariat Police Station, which they call the front man of those officials who also collect monthly commission from all the employees performing duty at Lakeview Park.

The revenue generated by these illegal kiosks directly goes to the pockets of both the corrupt officers including Park Supervisor Raja Basharat and Manager Ibrar. The kiosk owners pay monthly bribe to these officials.

A visitor Bilal Qadri said, “We used to come here to have some quality time with our family but for past couple of months the overall maintenance of Lakeview Park is in shambles. The prices of edible have increased and the garbage heap can be seen all over the place. I request CDA to take proper action in this regard and do all in its capacity to clean the park”. In ‘A’ zone of the park, there are 26 stalls and kiosks while ‘B’ zone has 25 kiosks and stalls.

DMA Director Shahbaz Tahir Nadeem told Daily Times that DMA did not issued any No Objection Certificate (NOC) to any one for constructing Kiosks in Lakeview Park. However, DMA issues some licenses to the hawkers of ice cream in Lakeview Park, he added. The correspondent tried to contact Member Environment Sana Ullah Aman several times but he was not available to comment on the issue.
