Alhamra’s 12th Annual Exhibition kicks off

LAHORE: Alhamra’s 12th Annual Exhibition titled ‘Enhancing Boundaries’, showcasing paintings, sculptures, ceramics and graphic art of young artists, kicked off on Tuesday. Walled City Lahore Authority Director General Kamran Lashari inaugurated the exhibition, which was organised by the Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra). A large number of art lovers and young art students thronged to the gallery on the inauguration and admired the artwork displayed by 386 young artists. On the occasion, Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Captain (r) Atta Muhammad Khan, Lahore Arts Council Deputy Director Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, National College of Arts Associate Professor Quddus Mirza and Shakir Ali Museum Director Amna Pataudi were also present. In the exhibition, 700 works of artists, belonging to Punjab, Sindh and other provinces of the country, have been put on display. The artists have used different mediums including oil, marker, pencil, charcoal, watercolour, needling and gouacahe on wasli in their artwork to convey their expressions and artistic approach. Eleven painting on the occasion were selected as best by four jury members, including Artist Association of Punjab Chairman Mian Ijazul Hassan, former University of the Punjab College of Art and Design principal Prof Hassan Shahnawaz Zaidi, National College of Arts Associate Professor Quddus Mirza and Shakir Ali Museum Director Amna Pataudi. Earlier, a prize distribution ceremony was held, in which cash prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners. Arshia Sohail, Hafiza Fatima Javed, Imran Kazmi, Khizra Touqeer, Maryam, Noorul Huda, Samra Cheema, Salman Arshad, Safa Mustafa and two other artists were awarded.
