‘Trump is in the wrong lane’

WASHINGTON DC: Pakistani-American parents of US Army Captain Hamayun Khan, killed in 2004 in the Iraq war, once again turned themselves on at the political scene of the US as the preparations and campaigns are underway for the House of Delegates Elections 2017.

Khizar Khan, Humayun’s father, received international attention following a speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention that criticised Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“I must tell you that the United States still going in right direction but it is the Trump Administration which was going towards the wrong way,” Khan said at a fundraiser for Democrats in Virginia.

“Right now, we need a dialogue on Muslims in America”, Khan said. “This is my 115th appearance in any Democrats’ event and in all events one agenda is common that what should we do to save our rights in this country.” “My advice for all the Muslims in America is that to keep raising your voice about the importance of your rights as this is the only way for a successful life in a democratic country,” Khan asserted. “If you tighten your lips, you are surrendering your rights.”

To a question about the policies of the Trump administration, the father of the slain soldier said that this difficult time is artificial, presidents come and go, but as the nation and being the citizens of the US their rights are still there as they were decades ago.

About the recent visit of President Trump to Saudi Arabia, Khan was of the view that Muslims are being victimised all over the globe just because of their weak leadership.

“I wish that we could have the leaders like those who can defend their religion and have moral strength to talk about the real problem.”

“This is the real Jihad to speak for your rights and to speak against the brutalities”, he said. “I just want to assure you that our voices are being heard.”

“This is the duty of all the Muslims in America to work together to end the bigotry, hate and discrimination from the United States of America”.
