GHALANAI – At least 12 families returned on Wednesday to border areas at Khwezai tehsil in Mohmand Agency in the wake of internally displaced people’s (IDP) repatriation started recently.
According to officials of the political administration, the tribesmen were displaced from these areas after security forces launched operation against militants in 2010-11. Since then, these families had migrated to safer places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
Biazai Assistant Political Agent Abdullah Shah, officials of Mohmand Rifles and a number of tribal elders gathered in Atta Bazaar of Khwezaifor welcoming the returning people.On the occasion, Shah said that the local administration would support the returning families and all basic needs would be provided to them at their doorstep.
It is pertinent to mention here that most of the tribesmen were displaced during the military operation from the Khwezai and Biazai areas located on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. These people were yet to be compensated for their demolished houses.
