ISLAMABAD: The investigation of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) rape case has taken a new turn after revelation of main culprit Krishan Kumar’s second marriage with the a Muslim girl.

Daily Times learnt that Krishan Kumar was also converted to Islam after the marrying a Muslim girl just few weeks ago, who was working as a nurse at Shifa International Hospital in the federal capital but the process of change of his name was not completed. His new wife belongs to Haripur and Krishan Kumar was arrested from the residence of his new in-laws.

On the other hand, medico legal officer and Polyclinic Hospital spokesman Dr Tanveer has provided the initial report of the incident to the police whereas other samples were sent to the laboratories of Lahore and Islamabad for forensic test.

The police told Daily Times that the wrongdoer Krishan Kumar has married to a Muslim girl just few weeks ago adding that if the enquiry of this incident would be held on merit then the possibilities of involvement of a big mafia in the entire game can be revealed. The sources said that some 14 alleged incidents of sexual harassment were reported at PIMS but what were the reasons behind it that every time the matter was put under the carpet. Now many parched queries are to be retorted during the enquiry of Krishan Kumar case.

Sources told Daily Times that Krishan Kumar was deputed at emergency ward three years ago and during that time he was involved in three sexual harassments against the nurses. All the time the administration was informed but they just transferred him to other unit instead of taking stern disciplinary action.

Some time ago, a male nurse Azmat also tried to rape a third year nursing female student and after the incident the management suspended him.

Another male nurse Dilbar also harassed sexually his four female colleagues during night duty in the hospital. These incidents were also brought to the notice of the administration but the accused succeeded to get his posting to engineering department and the actual matter was covered up.

The source further informed that male nurse In-charge Rabnawaz who is also a key office bearer of PIMS Workers Union played his important role all the time to save Krishan Kumar, Dilbar and Azmat whereas Nursing Superintendent Zafar Channna and Chief Nurse Farzana Islam also remained involved in backing the culprits in all the cases. Workers Union of PIMS also seems at the front to defend the guilty workers despite the fact that the union leaders know all the previous crimes committed by their voters very well.

This time Male Nursing In-charge Rabnawaz played his important role in getting fled Krishan Kumar. Before his arrest, Karachi Company Police Station called Rabnawaz twice in two days and tried to get some information about the culprit Kumar. The union also held a protest demonstration against this on Monday and termed the entire episode as allegation against Krishan Kumar. The main purpose of this demonstration was to exert pressure on the administration and to cover up the real crime.

Daily Times also learnt that different groups, which are backed by political parties, are doing dirty politics at PIMS on the name of workers’ union and they are trying to let down each other.

When Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) State Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary transferred Administrator Dr Altaf and Dr Aiysha Esani but due to political pressure, Dr Esani was brought back on her previous seat. The new Administrator Dr Fazal Maula tried to get the things back on right track but a powerful lobby created hurdles for him at every step.

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Mediacal University vice chancellor has sought the personal files of entire gang including Dilbar, Rabnawaz, Zafar Channa and Farzana Islam. He retreated his resolve that PIMS would be made a clean and corruption free institution where good health care facilities would be provided to the poor and all the black sheeps would be removed from the hospital.
