‘I won’t be interviewed by juniors Wasim and Ramiz’

KARACHI – Former batsman Mohsin Khan will not appear before his ‘juniors’, Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, if he is called by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for an interview for the position of the national team’s head-coach.

Both Ramiz and Wasim are members of a panel which has been appointed by the PCB to carry out the recruitment process for the position left vacant by Waqar Younis.

“I won’t be interviewed by my juniors; there’s simply no possibility of that,” said Mohsin. “Both cricketers in the committee started their careers towards the end of mine. If I apply, I will address my application to the chairman only.”

In his first spell in 2011-2012, Mohsin managed to secure series wins against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and England before Dave Whatmore replaced him as the Pakistan coach.

He also advised the PCB to consider local candidates for the head-coach vacancy left by Waqar Younis. “I would advise the board to stop looking at foreign coaches and repose faith in their local coaches,” he said.
