Admission, inexpensive education in schools become dream of common man

ISLAMABAD: The tall claims of the government regarding inexpensive and instant education have proved false, as the admission of children into school has become a dream for the common man.

Daily Times learnt that the school administration has turned the educational institutions no go area for poor people. The economical education is kept on one side and following the policy of even filching the books from students by the management of state run schools in the federal capital.

The parents especially the government servants dwelling in the federal capital are facing lot of problems to get admission of their children in the schools, which is being operated under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). The principals of these schools have become “royal personalities” as no citizen can even talk to them without taking appointment and even the clerks of these schools are not ready to see anyone. Before the issuance of new admission list, the school administration placed the notice of “admission closed” on main gate of the institution and like previous year, the parents are forced to visit Federal Directorate of Education and Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Ministry to find some sources or recommendation to get the admission of their child in school but at FDE, the officers have no time to attend these helpless parents, who have to do additional duty early in the morning before going to their duties as these officials bluntly refuse them and they go back in disappointing concern.

On the other hand, the parents said that when they get tired of going again and again to FDE for admission of their children in the schools after that they have no option except to get their children admitted in private educational institutions where they have to bear heavy expenses, which sometimes get beyond their control.

An outlandish state of affairs have been created in the private schools due to lack of space and large number of candidates and now the culture of knowing someone big to get admission in these private schools is taking place with great pace that is adding salt to the wounds of poor parents.

On the other hand, with the passage of time now the recommendation from any high official has also become necessary to admit the child in the schools run by Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) even getting prospectus from these schools is possible after the telephone call to principal by OPF director.

Daily Times on Friday asked Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal about the problems of parents in getting admission to their children in schools, he replied that the matter is under consideration of the government to resolve this grave issue.
