LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anti-corruption tribunal on Tuesday approved a request of batsman Khalid Latif, suspended over Pakistan Super League (PSL) II spot-fixing charges, to adjourn the ongoing corruption proceedings against him till June 14, after the player requested to be the part of the proceedings. Latif and his lawyer had been boycotting the hearing till now, having cited concerns about the fairness of the investigation. Latif had emailed the tribunal requesting that they be allowed to advance their defence from June 14. Latif will subsequently appear at the hearing on June 14. According to a PCB statement, the anti-corruption tribunal at the NCA Lahore held detailed deliberations regarding the request and allowed his counsel to make the final arguments.

The statement said that the tribunal carefully deliberated on the matter and accpeted the request of the cricketer. The PCB’s lawyers have completed presenting their case against Latif, and are set for closing arguments before the tribunal. Separately, on June 13, Latif’s appeal in the Lahore High Court against the make-up of the tribunal is set to be heard. His lawyer had earlier filed a petition against the constitution of the tribunal, which was dismissed, but he then filed an appeal.
