MARDAN – At least seven people have been injured in a suicide blast close to the Excise and taxation office near Ganj Bazar in Mardan, police said on Tuesday.
According to the local TV channel, a suicide bomber managed to enter the excise office in Mardan and blew himself up which resulted in several casualties. The police and security personnel had reached the area and cordoned off the site of the explosion near Mall Road.
Police have reached the site and rescue efforts are underway. Hospital sources confirmed that at least seven wounded that been shifted to the facility for emergency treatment. The injured included a journalist and a policeman.
Several government offices and a public car parking are situated close the Excise and Taxation office located in a densely populated area. Police said the exact nature of the explosion could not yet be ascertained. This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
