ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) former additional secretary Muhammad Afzal Khan has said that he had decided to file a petition against Riaz Kiani, member of the Punjab Election Commission, for allegedly receiving house rent allowance (HRA) from national exchequer while living in an official residence.
Talking to Daily Times, he said that Kiani allegedly received Rs 377,000 from the national exchequer in 58 months on account of house rent. He explained that if an official lives in an official residence he is not entitled to house rent allowance. It is the duty of the ECP secretary to recover this amount from Kiani, he said. Khan said that Kiani also received pension illegally because he was not entitled to it. Besides taking Rs 100,000 monthly salary, transport, petrol and telephone allowances from the national exchequer, Khan said, Kiani committed massive corruption by receiving HRA for almost five years. “I will write a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Public Accounts Committee about his corruption. I have twice written letters to the ECP secretary about him receiving HRA while living in an official residence,” he added.
