Lahore blast: Death toll reaches to 78

LAHORE – The death toll on Thursday reached 78 as another injured of Lahore Gulshan Iqbal Park blast succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

As per details, Marriyum, the 16-year old victim, a resident of Ferozpur Road had sustained critical injuries in the blast, she was rushed to Jinnah Hospital where she succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll to 78. Earlier, a suicide bomber targeted a children play area in Gulshan Iqbal Park in Lahore on March 27, killing at least 77 people, mostly children and women. Hundreds were also injured when explosives packed with ball bearings ripped through the crowds.

A woman Maryam who seriously injured in the explosion was taken to Jinnah Hospital where she was under treatment for last 24 days has died on Thursday morning, taking death toll to 78. Several more injured persons of blast still admitted in different hospital s of the city, however, some injured are critical condition and the death toll could be increased.

The city police also conducted several search operations against suspects involved in heinous crime across the city so far. During these search operations hundreds of persons were questioned and several were kept in police custody.

In further probe, all the arrested persons could not identified their position through legal documents and police sent them in different police stations for further legal procedure on daily basis.

The focused areas of the search operations included residential areas, markets, hotels, resthouses, educational institutes and other places.
