ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry Friday called on Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and discussed important issues pertaining to corruption cases.
The NAB chairman meet the chief justice at the latter’s chambers here in the Supreme Court and presented the bureau’s annual report, a private TV channel reported.
The meeting followed reports that the government has decided to form a judicial commission to probe the Panama Papers, a massive leak of tax documents from a law firm managing offshore shell companies in the tax haven of Panama.
In a separate development, Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali will leave Saturday on a week-long visit to Turkey. He will return to the country on May 1.
In his absence, Justice Saqib Nisar will act as the acting chief justice. According to sources close the apex court, Justice Jamali will attend the Turkish Supreme Court’s 54th birthday celebrations.
