LARKANA: Future of every nation has always been affiliated with education only and is must for every child.
Abbas Baloch, Commissioner Larkana Division addressing the participants of Regional Education Reforms Oversight Committee said that government teachers were now getting better salaries along with other benefits including time scale but quality of education was not improving.
The private school teachers get only meager pays but they are imparting better education to students, he lamented.
The government schools have lost the confidence of people as most of the government school teachers attend schools for the sake of passing time. This is the sorry state for those officers who have made bogus recruitment in education department. Baloch said that conditions of schools in general has also been not satisfactory as some were lacking washrooms, boundary walls and even running without roofs. With M&R budget these shortcomings should be overcome without any further loss of time and warned that no body would be spared for negligence. The lists of schools should be provided to him, which are in require of major or minor repairs and work should be started on priority in this connection.
He said no school should be allowed for illegal work nor it should be under any body’s illegal occupation and must exclusively be used for education purpose.
He said teachers should be forced to perform their duties and ensure their attendance in schools or else stern action would be taken against those found absent besides ghost teachers.
Monitoring system should be strengthened and lists of those teachers who were not performing their government duties or out of the country should be provided to him, he added.
Baloch asked the participants that ratio of admissions should also be increased. Commissioner is also holding dual charge of Sukkur Division Commissioner as well.
He said that officials of education department should also take part in tree plantation drive and solar plates should also be installed out of School Specific Budget and non-functional laboratories should also be made functional along with other required facilities.
On the occasion, district education officers complained that introduction of bio-metric system has not provided any relief and even monitoring system has miserably failed.
They said ghost teacher’s reports were being sent to them on daily basis from concerned taluka education officers for timely action.
They informed Chief Monitoring Officers have been provided with Toyota cars but the same facility has been denied to education officers. They demanded Procurement Committee and bio-metric system should be established on district levels.
Deputy Commissioners of Larkana division, District Education Officers and officials of education department attended the meeting.
