ISLAMABAD: Among thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) followers, there was only a single Muslim boy who remembered the party’s leader Sardar Soran Singh, who was recently assassinated by terrorists in war against terrorism.

Despite the passage of two days of special assistant’s assassination, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in general and PTI’s leadership in particular remained fail to express any bold stance against terrorism and condemnation of the killing.

However, in the loud music and jazzy environment on the occasion of PTI’s 20th anniversary at Jinnah Park in the federal capital, only one Muslim boy was holding placard portrayed with turban of Sardar Soran Singh in red and yellow paint and “May His Soul Rest In Peace” was inscribed under it.

Ashraf Khan belonging to Kohat is only 20 years of age and merely a secondary school passed was full of wisdom while talking to Daily Times. He said that the only voice for minorities in the province sacrificed his life adding that he always struggled for peace and interfaith harmony.

He lamented over easygoing behaviour of his party leaders and said that even not a two minutes silence was observed to express sympathies with the bereaved family of the departed soul. While his own gloomy voice became inaudible under the loudness of party’s anthems Kahn said, “The music is loud and everyone chanting party’s slogans but no one remembering the party’s faithful leader who sacrificed his life on the name of peace”.

The late advisor to chief minister on minorities and religious affairs Sardar Soran Singh was shot dead by terrorists in the Pir Baba near a Sikh temple area of Buner district on Friday while he was on his way back to home after offering condolences to the family of a deceased person in Kalabat area.

He was critically injured but succumbed to his injuries at Pacha Killay Hospital.

Ashraf Khan further said that the perception penetrated in country’s majority that non-Muslims are against the state that has to be eliminated and Sardar Soran Singh by giving his sacrifice has proved the wrong perception of the countrymen. Khan said, “Sikhs, Hindus and Christians are the citizens of Pakistan and they are never been involved in spreading anti-state ideologies”. He said that this attitude of ignoring minorities is taking our country to dark ages because they are equally patriotic and hardworking as Muslims.

The Muslim boy demanded of the provincial government and party’s leadership to compensate the unprivileged bereaved Sikh family.
