KARACHI: Amid conversion of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) into a private company through a parliamentary legislation to turn it into a profitable venture, the administration has put more burden on the airline through a hefty raise in salaries of the pilots. According to documents available with Daily Times, the management has raised adhoc relief of the captains and the first officers after negotiations with the PALPA According to the notification, captains of Boeing 777 have been given a raise of Rs 150,000 per month; salaries of captains of Airbus-310 and Airbus-320 have been raised by Rs 130,151 while the captains of ATR will get Rs 107,500 as adhoc relief. The remuneration of first officers of Boeing-777 has been increased by Rs 100,113; first officers of Airbus-310 and Airbus-320 by Rs 66,713 and first officers of ATR-320 by Rs 51,430 per month. The adhoc relief will be admissible to regular pilots drawing salaries in Class-I to VII and will not be allowed to the categories of pilots who are on LWP exceeding 120 days at a stretch. However, they will be allowed the relief upon joining duty, according to the notification Ironically, the PIA management never bothered to increase pensions since 2003.
